Description
MOXIE (Member Owners eXchange Information & Experience) is a group of member business Owners/Presidents who meet monthly with Christy Jones to discuss issues impacting their businesses. All member Business Owners/Presidents are invited to participate. Everyone must sign a confidentiality clause.
This month we will discuss the Corporate Transparency Act that went into effect January 2024.
What is it?
Enacted in 2021, the CTA aims to combat illicit activity including tax fraud, money laundering and financing for terrorism by capturing more ownership information for specific US businesses operating in or accessing the country's market.
Under new legislation, businesses that meet certain criteria must submit a Beneficial Ownership Information Report to the US Department of Treasury's Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, providing details identifying individuals who are associated with the reporting company.
