GiGi’s Playhouse Des Moines receives grant from Variety - the Children’s Charity of Iowa

(Windsor Heights, Iowa) – GiGi’s Playhouse Des Moines has received a grant from Variety - the Children’s Charity of Iowa to fund programs benefitting children and teens with Down syndrome.

GiGi’s Playhouse Des Moines is a nonprofit organization serving the Greater Des Moines area with purposeful programs for children and adults with Down syndrome and their family and friends. We are proud of our purpose: to change the way the world views Down syndrome and to send a global message of acceptance for all.

The Variety grant allowed GiGi’s to secure a new Literacy Library for Language, Music ‘N Our Peeps (LNMOP), a program that teaches sign language and communication skills to parents and their children 0-3 with Down syndrome.  GiGi’s also purchased new tables and chairs and a sound system to be used in a variety of kids and teen programming.

“I am so impressed with the awesome volunteers that lead our fantastic programs but felt that the outdated equipment and materials that we provided them fell short of what they (and our participants) deserved. Variety helped us remedy that!” -- Executive Director John Claes.
