Urbandale Public Library Celebrates Library Card Sign-up Month and Reveals a New Look
Urbandale, Iowa – September is Library Card Sign-up Month, when libraries nationwide join the American Library Association (ALA) to remind their communities that signing up for a library card is the first step on the path to academic achievement and lifelong learning. A library card provides people of all ages opportunities to pursue their dreams, explore new passions and interests, and find their voice.
The library is launching a new look, complete with logo, catchphrase, and mascot, as the result of a branding campaign with Super Wink Studio’s Ananda Walden and Heather Winkel. In the spirit of the library’s mission to support lifelong learning, the new catchphrase Be Curious! reflects the user experience the Urbandale Public Library wishes to cultivate. Whether you’re a new or current library cardholder, the library is offering three new design options to choose from when creating or updating your account. Keep an eye out for more announcements related to the new logo and how you can show your support with a sticker and other fun swag!
At Urbandale Public Library, all ages can find a variety of educational resources and activities, including Brainfuse for academic and career assistance for every stage in life. Fine motor skills and early literacy are incorporated in fun and engaging programs like storytime while opportunities to explore creativity and critical thinking play a part in Afterschool Fun activities, teen/tween paint nights, and escape rooms. Adults are welcome to explore a range of topics at one of our book clubs or embrace their own inner child with some creative play at Adult DIY.
Urbandale Public Library, along with libraries everywhere, continues to adapt and expand services to meet the evolving community needs. To sign up for a library card or to learn more about the library’s resources and programs, please visit www.urbandalelibrary.org. Your library card also provides you free transportation with DART from September 11 to 17 so be sure to use the most valuable card in your wallet.
