Signs of Support Grants Awarded for Charitable Organizations
Signarama-Ankeny/YESCO Sign & Lighting announces first grant recipients

[Ankeny, IA…]  In June of this year, local sign company owner Kathy Evert of KJ Signs, LLC dba Signarama-Ankeny and YESCO Sign and Lighting of Des Moines, announced a grant program to benefit local charitable organizations in Polk County.  The first recipients have been selected from eighteen (18) applications received.
“Our first Signs of Support program is intended to assist charitable organizations in replacing or creating effective, affordable signage and graphics for their mission.  I am excited to help people in the community that work hard at making this a better place to live and proud to announce that our team has selected these first recipients” said Kathy Evert.
The 2019 Signs of Support grantees and their projects are:
The Blank Park Zoo – The Blank Park zoo’s mission is to inspire an appreciation of the national world through conservation, education, research and recreation. The Zoo has over 2,100 animals that represent 194 different species. This project includes 12 exterior window graphics that will be featured outside of their entrance and giftshop.
Pinky Swear Foundation - Pinky Swear is an organization that provides support to children with cancer and families. Their support includes home security, reliable transportation, utility bills, groceries, and other additional family needs. They are hosting their annual radiothon fundraiser at Valley West Mall with an expected attendance of 200+ along with thousands of listeners and callers. This project will consist of signage for the event, including ways to acknowledge their sponsors, mission, and their all-star kids.
Iowa Homeless Youth Center - IHYC is a community-based center of YSS (Youth and Shelter Services). IHYC works to eliminate homelessness among children, youth, and young families in Central Iowa. They believe that with support and assistance, homeless youth can attain self-sufficiency and break through poverty. IHYC is located downtown Des Moines. YSS holds two different “Reggie Sleepout” events throughout the year. IHYC participates in Des Moines Reggie’s Sleepout at Drake Stadium. The event has participants raise money, and then camp out on the field as a homeless person for the night. The attendance is around 300+ and will be held November 2nd. This project would feature event signage that acknowledge sponsors and wayfinding around their event.
“We congratulate and thank these three organization for the special work and impact they have on our region,” said Evert.  Grants are in the form of signage and discounts, not monetary awards. The projects are expected to be completed yet this calendar year.
